Peggy was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, Adrian McCardell “Mac” Remsberg; her parents, Willard S. Holter and Kathryn Zimmerman Holter; and her sister, Kay Shafer (and husband, Ron).
She is survived by her two sons, John “Jay” Holter Remsberg and his fiancée, Trish, and Adrian McCardell “Mike” Remsberg Jr. and his wife, Lisa. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, John Holter Remsberg Jr. and his wife, Jess; Maggie Holter Remsberg Rivas and her husband Will; Olivia McCardell Remsberg; and Ethan McCardell Remsberg; as well as her great-grandsons, Landon and Archer, and her great-granddaughter, Maeve. She is also survived by her sister, Betty Moss, and her husband, Bob.
As a military wife and mother, Peggy made a home for her family through duty stations in London, Honolulu, and Fort Ritchie. Through each move and transition, she was the steady presence that held her family together before ultimately returning to Middletown.
Peggy was a devoted mother and dedicated teacher who touched the lives of many elementary school children throughout the Middletown Valley over the course of her career. A graduate of Middletown High School, she earned her degree in Elementary Education from Frostburg State University. The lasting impact of her years as a teacher was evident whenever students spotted her around town and eagerly approached to say hello to “Mrs. Remsberg”-a testament to the warmth, encouragement, and enthusiasm for learning she shared with a generation of young students. Peggy also had a lifelong love of animals and cherished the many pets that were part of her family over the years.
Peggy was a lifelong member of Christ Reformed United Church of Christ in Middletown, Maryland. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family invites those wishing to honor Peggy’s memory to consider a gift to Christ Reformed United Church of Christ in Middletown - Memorial Fund or a charity of your choice in her memory.
