Pete Kominos, 64, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away at home on Monday, August 4, 2025, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on February 12, 1961, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Stavros and Afrodite (Genovezos) Kominos. Pete was larger than life - a man known for his unwavering work ethic, sharp wit, and a one-of-a-kind presence that filled every room he walked into.
He spent decades working in HVAC, proudly operating his own business for over 35 years. He welcomed a challenge and could fix just about anything. Pete took pride in everything he did and was the person people called when they needed a job done right. He was a high-spirited problem-solver and someone you could always count on for a laugh.
Outside of work, Pete loved fishing, golfing, tending to his banana trees, and riding his Harley with Lynyrd Skynyrd blasting from the speakers. He was a natural storyteller, always quick with a joke or an unforgettable tale. He enjoyed his solitude but fiercely loved his people. Once you were in his circle, you were in for life.
He is survived by his daughters, Sam and Sydney Kominos; his granddaughter, Lucille Kominos; his brother, Dennis Kominos; his nieces, nephews; and extended family who will miss him deeply.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Theodora “Terry” (Kominos) Toms.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 11th at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick. Prayers will begin at 7:30 on Monday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at Sts. Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church with Rev. Fr. John Bullock officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway in Frederick.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Fisher House Foundation, or simply take a moment to turn on a good song and think of Pete - just the way he’d like to be remembered.
