Ralph Eugene Brashear, Jr., age 74, of Frederick, passed away on Wednesday, November 27. 2024 at The John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore surrounded by family and friends after a long battle with liver cancer.
Ralph “Eugene” was born June 8, 1950, in Sandy Springs, MD to the late Ralph Eugene Brashear, Sr. and Catherine Louise Keeney.
He attended Richard Montgomery High School. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Silver Spring, MD and retired after 38 years.
He loved camping in Myrtle Beach, SC at Ocean Lakes Campground, drag racing at 75/80 Drag Strip in Monrovia, MD, where he received 50 + trophies. He also enjoyed puzzles, yard work, working on vehicles and car shows.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife, of 54 years, Lillie Pauline Brashear, of Frederick; and one son, Brian Eugene Brashear and wife, Tammy of Frederick; four grandchildren, Brittany Marie Brashear of Bradenton, FL, Tyler Jay Brashear and wife, Brandi, of Myersville, MD, Zachary Allen Brashear and wife, Danielle, of Richmond, VA, and Johanna Hailey Brashear of Frederick; five great-grandchildren, Peyton Nicole Jordan, Michael Anthony Jordan and Jose Eduardo “Eddie” Quistian of Bradenton, FL, Lillyan Kay Brashear and Jaxon Allen Brashear of Richmond, VA; sister, Karen Virginia Wilson, of Montgomery Village, MD; half brother, Harold Rice, Jr.; sister-in-law, Ann Roark, of Weber City, VA; brother-in-law, David Scott, of Jonesville, VA; many nieces and nephews; special mentions “adopted granddaughter”, Carrie Lowe, of Myersville; "adopted daughters”, Judy Schmidt of FL and Janine Davis D’Ambrogio of FL; special friends, Vince and Sharon Malta, of Jefferson, MD, Allen and Andi Poole, of Urbana, MD; and special little ones, Trinty and Harlow Hinman.
Ralph is preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Vernon Brashear and Richard Lee Brashear; and one half brother, Mark Rice.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2024 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 3rd at the funeral home in Frederick where the family will also receive friends one hour prior to services. Rev. Tim May will officiate. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
