Ramona Jean Burkett, a woman of deep and abiding faith, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 8, 2025, just shy of her 85th birthday.
Born on November 23, 1940, in Martinsburg, WV, she was the daughter of the late William Rutherford and Ruth Ida Virginia (Ware) Parsons-Miller.
Ramona was a proud graduate of Brunswick High School, Class of 1957. She dedicated many years to nurturing young lives as beloved daycare teacher at the Creative Children's Center, where her kindness and warmth left a lasting impression on countless families. Her membership at Mount Zion United Methodist Church of Myersville, MD, was a central pillar of life, reflecting the strong faith that guided her every day.
Ramona's memory will be cherished and kept alive by her devoted family. She is survived by her dear sister, Donna Grossnickle, and her family, daughter, Laura Mellott and husband Jeffrey, her son John Burkett and wife Melanie; grandchildren, Kellie Humphrey, Bryce Klinedinst, Cameron and Kelly Humphrey, Ashleigh and Devon Bender, Emily and Daniel Martin, Dustin Burkett, Jason and Amanda Burkett, Jeremy Burkett and Chelsea Burkett; great-grandchildren, Logan Burkett, Karleigh Humphrey and Eric Alfaro, Colbey Gilbert, Colton Smith, Adley and Brody Martin, Remington Ruse, Luke and Bejamin Humphrey, Kensington Burkett, Taylor and Kaitlyn Burkett.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, H. Marion Burkett who passed away on September 17, 2007. She also suffered a profound loss of her sons, Jeffrey Burkett and Marion Todd Burkett and her grandchildren, Kaylee, Kinley, Logan, and Daniel.
Ramona will be remembered as a wonderful teacher, a dedicated wife and mother, and above all a woman whose life was a testament to her steadfast faith.
Services and interment will be private.
