Renate C. Wilson

   Renate Charlote Wilson, 81 of Frederick, formerly of Smithsburg, MD died Monday Jan. 30, 2023, following complications from a stroke.  She was born Aug 1, 1941, in Berlin Germany.  Renate was preceded in death by husband Jon Henry Wilson and son Michael Jon Wilson.   Renate was also preceded in death by sisters Uschi Johnston and Hanni Moffit. 

   Renate is survived by daughter Sandy Mull and husband Dave, son Thomas Moore and wife Andie, grandchildren; Chris Mull, Katrina Hula and husband Connor, Dave Moore and wife Jen, Jessie Moore, Joe Moore and 10 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by half-sister Sabine Ogrosky and husband Michael and children in Berlin, Germany.  Renate is also survived by niece Michele Moffit and nephews Corey and Dustin Johnston. 

   Renate earned her Masters degree from Hood College in Frederick and was a German teacher at Frederick High School for 25 years.  One of the most loved highlights of her teaching experience was taking her students to Germany as part of the foreign exchange program that she helped create and run for many years. 

   Renate loved her family, she enjoyed traveling, painting, reading, gardening, music, donating to charities and she loved animals; especially her beloved German Shepherd Berkie. 

  Renate was long time member of the Frederick Church of the Brethren.  A memorial service celebrating her life will be held there on Saturday, March 4 at 11:00 am.  201 Fairview Avenue, Frederick.
