Richard Eugene Hargett, Sr.

Richard E. Hargett, Sr., 83, of Monrovia, Maryland, passed from this life on Friday, January 13, 2023, at Kline Hospice House in Mt. Airy, MD.

He was the husband, of 57 years, to the late Connie Hargett.

 
Born August 31, 1939, in Frederick, MD, he was the son of the late Ralph L. Hargett and Eleanor G. Hargett.

He enjoyed frying chicken, making sausage, dancing to Rocky Top, hauling mulch, deer hunting and spending time with his family and friends.  

He is survived by his children, Glenda Bussard and husband, Rick of Monrovia, Rick Hargett and wife Beth, of Brunswick, and Tammy Albaugh and husband, Michael of Keymar; twelve grandchildren;  twenty-three great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; brother, Bob Hargett of Boonsboro; sisters ,Peg Arnold of Adamstown, Patsy Stockman of Frederick and Sharon MacKenzie of Frederick.  He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.  He will be especially missed by his brother-in-law, Sam Brown of Burkittsville.

Richard was preceded in death by a son, Randy Hargett.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, January 16, 2023 and from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702 where funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 with Pastor Dave Hendershot officiating.

Interment will follow at Locust Valley Bible Church Cemetery, Middletown, MD., with Jeremy Bussard, Jason Bussard, Justin Hargett, Cory Hargett, Matthew Hargett, and Michael Albaugh, Jr as pallbearers and Bradley Hargett, Davis Crouse, and Trey Wiles as honorary pallbearers.

The family would like to especially thank the staff at Kline Hospice House for the exceptional care provided to Dad during his last weeks.
