Robert D. Guyton

Middletown

      Mr. Robert (Bob) Drexel Guyton, entered eternal rest, June 17, 2023, at his home in Middletown, Maryland.

      He was born on Feb. 10, 1932, in Burkittsville, Maryland.  He was the son of the late Drexel M. and Marceline V. (Zecher) Guyton. Bob resided in Middletown with his wife of 70 years, Margaret N. Lease Guyton. Bob was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Burkittsville, MD, before transferring his membership to Zion Lutheran Church in Middletown. Bob was a dairy farmer in Middletown Valley from 1953-1965, after which time he accepted employment at Aero Jet in Frederick.  After a duration with them, he accepted employment with Frederick County Public Schools as a supervisor for the new construction of Thomas  Johnson High School, in 1966. He later became an inspector of new school construction for FCPS until retirement in 1995.

     He enjoyed being a member of the Frederick Elks club for 50 years. Bob also frequented Lee Delauter & Sons in Middletown and enjoyed talking to the local folks. He was particular about his cars and lawn and maintained both in pristine condition. 

     Bob was close with his brother, Merle Lee Guyton, his wife Rebecca, and his nieces Loretta Adkins, her husband Tom, and Dr. Lori Guyton and her husband David Smith.   

    He is also survived by his wife and three children, Joyce Guyton and her husband Doug Miller of Middletown, Sharon Toms and her husband Greg Toms of Annapolis, and Dale Guyton of Middletown. He was predeceased by his daughter Diane Summers (Eric) of Middletown on October 9, 2020. He is survived by his eight loving grandchildren: Andrew Keller his wife Marla their children  Hannah and Grace, Michael Summers, Sara Ransom and her husband Patrick and their children Madison, Bentley and Lynk, Melissa Toms (Nate Schoonmaker), Susan Summers (Joe Dirndorfer), Aaron Keller (Danielle Kirkpatrick), Amanda Toms and her husband Taylor Clark and Scott Toms.

       The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, Thursday, June 22, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm (1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick). The funeral service will be at Zion Lutheran Church (107 W. Main Street, Middletown) on Friday, June 23, 2023, at 11:00.  

     In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Robert and Margaret Guyton Scholarship Fund (312 East Church Street, Fredrick, MD 21701) or to Hospice of Frederick County (1 Frederick Health Way, Frederick MD 21701).
