Robert Lee Hargett, Jr., passed unexpectedly at his residence in Boonsboro, MD on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at the age of 68.
Born in Fredrick, MD on December 9, 1957, he was the loving son of his father Robert Lee Hargett, Sr. and stepmother Bonnie Hargett. Bobby was preceded in death by his loving mother, Barbara Jean Schmidt, who we take comfort in knowing was there to meet him with loving arms at the eternal gate.
Affectionately known as Bob or Bobby, he treated no one like a stranger. His friends were not just friends, they were his family. Each one of them had a special place in his heart. His journey on this earth was one of love, compassion, and loyalty. Working for approximately 25 years with Ryan Legacy Builders, he added another family that he could call his own. With his love of cabinetry and trim work even his “retirement” didn’t stop his passion for working and he never hesitated to help with anything when called. He was a true patriot to his country and devoted Ravens fan. His passing has left a void in the hearts of family and friends whose many lives were touched by his generosity and loving heart.
In addition to his father and stepmother, Bob is also survived by his precious, loyal canine companion, Mindy, who brought him endless joy; his children, Stacy Schubert and son-in-law, Steven Schubert, and Amanda Fulmer and her children. Bob was the grandfather to Brittney, Madyson, and Jayden Geppi; along with his adored great-granddaughters, Skylar Geppi and Novaleigh Prandi. His memory will continue to be carried on by his surviving siblings, Debbie Karl and brother-in-law Van Karl, Teresa Schmidt-Layman and fiancé Jean Boudreau, Lisa Kiracofe and brother-in-law Kenny Kiracofe, and Cathy Canby and brother-in-law Allen Canby; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and cousins who will all share in the sadness of his loss.
A gathering of friends and family will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. Memorial services will begin at 4 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Jack Payne officiating.
