Robert Woodrow Martz

Robert Woodrow Martz, 84, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed from this life on Monday, May 18, 2026 at Julia Manor Health Care Center in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Born on February 22, 1942, in Hagerstown, Maryland, he was the son of the late Leonard Harrington Martz and Catherine Mae (Moats) Martz.

Robert attended South Hagerstown High School. He devoted over four decades of his life to the Beachley Furniture Company, faithfully serving in the shipping department.His commitment and hard work not only highlighted his loyalty but also his reliability as a valued member of his workplace community. He was an avid enthusiast of auctions and sales, where he indulged his passion for collecting antiques. Robert’s companionship with his beloved dog, Peanut, was a cherished element of his life. Together, they spent many peaceful moments in the park, where Robert and Peanut fed the squirrels, a small ritual that brought him happiness.

He is survived by his four sisters, Linda J. Schuller, Peggy A. McElroy, Patricia D. Palmer and husband Terry and Sharon K. Martz; niece, Lara Middleton and husband Brian; great niece, Phoenix and great-nephew, Maxwell.

He was proceeded in death by his brothers-in law, Ronald Schuller and Joseph McElroy,
