Roger Hood Geisbert, III, 88, of Urbana, Maryland, passed from this life on Monday, March 25, 2024, at Autumn Lake Healthcare at Ballenger Creek in Frederick, MD. He was the beloved husband of the late Doris M. Geisbert who died in 2008.
Born on December 8, 1935, in Frederick, he was the son of the late Roger Hood Geisbert, Jr and Cecelia Ann Knott Geisbert.
Roger was a graduate Frederick High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland in business administration. He also served the US Army Reserves.
Roger was President of Knott & Geisbert, Inc., a family farm equipment dealership located in Urbana. In his spare time he enjoyed umpiring baseball at all levels and especially girls high school softball; and was a member of the Frederick County Umpires Association. He also played drums with several community bands including the Browningsville Cornet Community Band.
He is survived by his two sons, Scott Hood Geisbert and Dara of Ijamsville, MD and Gerald Hamilton Geisbert and wife Terry of West Virginia; four grandchildren, Scott Hood Geisbert, Jr, James Brian Geisbert, Steven Hamilton Geisbert and Carrie Lynn Geisbert; four great grandchildren: Evan, Michael, Tucker and Austin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and special friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM on Thursday, March 28, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy, MD 21771.
A private service and interment will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick at a later date.
