Listen to Obituary

Ronald Vincent Smith, 77, of Rocky Ridge, Maryland, passed away on April 9, 2026.

Born to Karl Sr. and Isabelle Albaugh Smith, Ronnie spent his entire life in Rocky Ridge, where he built not only a home, but a legacy rooted in hard work, dedication, and quiet strength.

Ronnie was the proud owner of S&S Drywall Construction Company, where his strong work ethic and commitment to his craft were evident throughout his life. He also served his country honorably in the United States Army at Fort Carson, Colorado, from January 1969 to January 1971.

He was a man who truly loved to work and found joy in simple, meaningful pursuits. Whether he was cutting wood, recycling, or finding hidden treasures while dumpster diving, Ronnie had a way of turning everyday moments into something worthwhile. One of his greatest joys was playing poker each month with his brothers—a time filled with tons of laughter, stories, and memories.

Known for his sly sense of humor, Ronnie had a personality that drew people to him wherever he went. He loved talking with others and made friends easily, leaving a lasting impression on those he met. Despite his strong presence, he lived humbly and never forced his opinions on others.

Above all, Ronnie was an incredible provider and teacher. He went far beyond what was required of being a good father, leading by example through hard work, integrity, and unwavering support for his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Connie; his children, Patty (Troy) and Mike Smith; his grandchildren, Randy, Carrie, Chelsea, and Alex; and his great-grandchildren, Desean, Casey, AJ, Luke, Asher, Bodhi, and Jason.

He is also survived by his six brothers, Karl Jr. (Carolyn), Larry (Debbie), Jerry (Vickie), Jimmy (Debbie), Randy (Karen), and Jeff (Gayle); and his only sister, JoAnn. He was predeceased by his grandson, Korey, and his brother, Ricky.

A memorial service will be held at Stauffer’s Funeral Home in Thurmont, Maryland, on Thursday, April 16th, from 5-8 pm. Please stop by and share a story with his family.
