Roy Edward Lee Henderson, Jr.

Roy Edward Henderson, Jr., 78 of Burkittsville, Maryland, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. Born in Washington County on February 18, 1947, he was the son of the late Roy Henderson Sr. and Mabel Weedon Henderson.

Roy attended Middletown High School, later becoming a professional drywall finisher and working in the trade for over 40 years: working at such places as North American Housing, Donohoe Drywall and Eric Moore Contracting. Aside from being known as one of the best drywall finishers around, he also had a passion for hunting dogs. He bred, raised, hunted, and showed many champion dogs over the years, receiving numerous trophies and awards.

Roy was preceded in death by two brothers; Charles Weedon and David Henderson Sr.; two sisters, Betty Jane Weedon and Mary Henderson and three brothers- in- law; Thomas King Sr., Maurice Weedon, and Thomas Smith.

Roy is survived by his loving son Wayne James (Samantha) of Frederick; sisters Virginia King of Hagerstown, Hilda Smith of New Jersey; brothers Richard Henderson (Bonnie) of Petersville, Van Allen Henderson (Patricia) of Frederick, Daniel Henderson Sr. (Patricia) of Hagerstown; sister-in-law Edith Weedon of Brownsville, as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces, great nephews and special friends.

The family will receive friends from 10-11am on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A. (Brunswick), 1100 North Maple Avenue in Brunswick, MD, where a celebration of Roy’s life journey will take place at 11 am. Interment will be private.
