Ruth Ellen Kunkle

Ruth Ellen Kunkle, 75, of Fairfield, Pennsylvania, passed from this life on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at “The Gardens at Gettysburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center,” in Gettysburg, PA.

Born on March 24, 1950, in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late William W. Kunkle and Elizabeth M. (Thompson) Kunkle.

Originally from Armbrust, Pennsylvania, Ruth did various types of work, such as: making studs for tires, repairing truck tarps and awning covers, and care-giving. She also did some re-upholstery on the side.

Ruth loved dogs. Her last two dogs were Misty, and later, Wiggles. She enjoyed the outdoors, and taking long walks with her dogs. She loved to attend Sunday School, church services, and church events, such as: potluck dinners. She was also quite gifted with crafts, and would spend her time sewing, and making things to give as gifts. Ruth was addicted to Word Search puzzles, and enjoyed adult coloring. She would spend hours doing this while watching her favorite TV shows.

She is survived by her sister, Lois Kramer, and husband Dean of Fairfield, PA, an older brother, Charles Kunkle, and wife Kathy of Grand Rapids, Michigan. She is also survived by 4 nieces: Heidi Frazee, Jennifer Knoeller, Stephanie Mac Dougal, and Vanessa Kramer; and 2 nephews: Jeff Kunkle, and Nathan Kunkle, and 25 great nieces and nephews.
