Ruth Viola May

Ruth V May, 88, of Thurmont, MD went home to be with Our Lord on March 7, 2026. She passed away peacefully with her loving daughter by her side at The Kline Hospice House. Born on 4/11/1937 in Woodsboro, she was the daughter of the late Clyde A. Titman and Elsie V. Quick Titman.

She worked for several businesses in Thurmont including Claire Frock, Donald Lewis’s Store and Moore Business Forms. She retired from Moore’s after more than 25 years of employment.

She took great pride in the flowers she planted which attracted many butterflies and hummingbirds. Every spring she would ensure her bird feeders were ready and available to attract all species of birds. She especially enjoyed watching hummingbirds that visited her flowers and bird feeders.

Ruth was a very caring individual, especially to her family. She was very involved in the lives of her grandchildren.

Holiday meals were always very important to her and she spent endless hours preparing the meal. She always ensured that the meals included everyone’s favorite dish.

She had a special place in her heart for animals which included her poodle Peppi and several special cats throughout her life.

Ruth is survived by 2 children Kevin May (Christine) and Donna (May) Ramsburg (Denny); 2 Grandchildren, Sarah (May) Nelson and husband Andrew and Kyle May and wife Melissa; 3 great grandchildren, Athena Nelson, Rowan Nelson and Camden May. She also leaves behind a special sister-in-law Nancy Titman and many nieces and nephews and their families including a special niece Barbara Fisher and her son Ricky Fisher.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by all of her siblings; Nellie Quick, Raymond Titman, Norman Titman, Elmer Titman and Betty Titman.

Special thanks to Denny Myers and Mark Zienda who provided endless support to her daughter Donna, which assisted greatly in her ability to remain in her home until the last 2 weeks of her life.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 from 1 pm to 2 pm at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 East Main Street, Thurmont, MD. A funeral service will be held immediately following the visiting hour at 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kline Hospice House, 7000 Kimmel Road, Mt. Airy, MD 21771.

Interment will follow in Union Chapel Cemetery, Libertytown, MD.
