Ruth Virginia McAfee

Ruth Virginia McAfee, 82, of Frederick, Maryland, passed from this life on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of Robert L. McAfee for 58 years. 

Born on March 24, 1941, in Cumberland, MD, she was the daughter of the late Roy James Reed, Sr. and Anna Mae (Smith) Reed.

Ruth graduated from Bedford High School, Bedford PA. She worked in the banking industry for many years. 

The most important thing in her life was her family. When her children were young, she was their number one fan and supporter. She was a Girl Scout leader and a youth group leader in church. Ruth never missed any sporting or school event that her children participated in, and she attended as many of her grandchildren's events as possible. She was of the Episcopal faith.

She enjoyed spending time with family, especially grandchildren. Ruth was loved by all and will be greatly missed. 

In addition to her husband, Robert L. McAfee, she is survived by her daughter, Roxanne Lynn Dolecki and husband, Stephan; son, Robert M. McAfee, and wife, Zara; three grandchildren, Gwyneth Dolecki, Samantha Dolecki, and Dennis McAfee; two brothers, Roy J. Reed, Jr. and Gerald L. Tipton; and many additional family members.

She was predeceased by her parents, and her step-father, Ernest "Pop" Tipton.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD.

A celebration of Ruth's life journey will take place at 10:00 am on Friday, December 15, 2023, from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tim May officiating.

Interment will be private

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the American Liver Foundation.
