Ruth Helen Shane

Ruth Helen Shane, 87, of Thurmont, Maryland, passed from this life on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Kline Hospice in Mount Airy, MD. She was the beloved wife of the late Sterling E. Shane for a long loving 65 yrs

Born on December 30, 1938, near Emmitsburg, MD, she was the daughter of the late Clarence W. and Edith M. (Alexander) Andrew.

Ruth dedicated over 34 years of her life working at Claire Frock as a clothes presser, a position where her attention to detail and work ethic shone brightly. Known for her genuine nature, she touched the lives of many with her warm smile and kind heart. Her enthusiasm for life was evident in her many interests; she enjoyed attending yard sales and eagerly looked forward to the Colorfest in Thurmont every year.

Her leisure time was often spent in the serenity of her garden. Ruth found great joy in sitting outside, admiring flowers and the outdoors. Ruth enjoyed hummingbirds and bird watching.

Family was at the core of Ruth’s existence. She delighted in the company of her loved ones and treasured the special moments spent with her grandson Andrew Moser and granddaughter Kristie McKinley. The highlight of her days often came through their visits, as well as the joyful times shared with her little buddy, David Andrew, Jr.

Ruth had a fond affection for music, with Jim Reeves being her favorite singer. Her evenings often included watching her preferred television shows, which included Judge Judy, Matlock, and Family Feud, further showcasing her love for family connections and lighthearted entertainment.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Moser, and husband Mike; grandchildren, Kristie McKinley and husband Cody and Andrew Moser and companion Brooke Fravel; siblings, Rosie Eyler, Sarah McNair, Barbara Wantz, Harriet Burhman, Belinda Fogle, James Andrew, Eugene Andrew, Paul Andrew, and Franklin Andrew.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Shane, and her siblings Edward Andrew, Martain Andrew, Donald Andrew, Samuel Andrew, George Andrew, Mary Brown, Betty Stambaugh and Anna Hughes.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Monday, February 2, 2026, at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A. (Thurmont), 104 East Main Street in Thurmont, MD.

A celebration of Ruth's life journey will take place at 11 am on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A. (Thurmont), 104 East Main Street in Thurmont, MD. Rev. Tim May will officiate. Interment will be at Blue Ridge Cemetery in Thurmont, MD.
