Sam L. Blank

Meredith L. Blank Jr., better known to family and friends as Sam, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on December 7, 1942, in Frederick, he was the beloved son of the late Meredith L. Blank Sr. (Leo) and Charlotte Grumbine.

Sam was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He shared 63 loving years of marriage with his wife, Shirley, and together they built a strong and supportive family. He is survived by his three sons Larry (Sherene), Todd (Sheryl) and Mickey (Jennifer); his grandchildren; Jonathan, Christina (Ethan), Wyatt, and Elizabeth; and his great-grandson, Bellamy.

He is also survived by his two sister, Suzie and Dana and was preceded in death by his two brothers, Teddy and Jimmy. Sam leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by many, especially his dear friend Leann.

Sam began his working life in construction, where he developed a strong work ethic and lasting friendships. He later found fulfillment working at the Cracked Claw, where his warm nature and sense of humor made him a favorite among coworkers and patrons alike.

A passionate sports enthusiast, Sam loved watching horse racing, baseball, football and hockey. Whether cheering from his living room or the track, his excitement for the game- and life itself-was contagious.

Sam will be remembered for his deep love of family, his kind heart, and the steady, quiet strength he carried through every season of life. His memory will live on in the the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

He will be missed beyond words and forever remembered with love.

Visitation will be held at Stauffer Funeral Home in Frederick, at 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick Maryland 21701, on Tuesday June 17, 2025, from 11-1pm with a service to follow. Burial will be at Rocky Springs Cemetery following the service.
