Samuel Hollister Jackson, III, 81, of Walkersville died on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at home. He was born on April 19, 1943 in Washington, DC. He was predeceased by his parents, Samuel H. "Jack" Jackson and Margaret "Ann" Jackson.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judith (Judy), mother-in-law, Esther Mathewson, sister Nancy Peck, nieces Leann (Jeff) Huntington and Holly (Heath) Castleberry, nephew Steven (Amy) Peck and 5 great nephews and a great niece.
Sam was a 1962 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Dependent's High School in Ankara, Turkey. He was a veteran and proudly served in the Army from 1964-68 in Europe. He worked as an electronics technician, retiring from civil service in 2003.
After retiring he enjoyed riding his Honda Gold Wing Motorcycle, teaching motorcycle safety classes and traveling in the winter to Arizona and Florida with his motor home. He was an amateur (HAM) radio operator and pursued interests in quilting and also cooking by taking culinary classes at FCC and earning a certificate in 2018.
Donations may be made in Sam's name to the National Kidney Foundation at kidney.org, or a charity of one's choice.
The family would like to thank Davita of Frederick, his doctors and Autumn Lake Ballenger Creek for their care.
Services will be private at a later date.
