Sarah Elizabeth Jones,82, of Jefferson, Maryland, passed from this life on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, MD. She was the wife of the late Larry William Jones for 57 years.
Born on August 12, 1943, in Charles Town, WV she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Clara Delawder.
Larry and Sarah were snowbirds, together, they enjoyed escaping to Punta Gorda, FL. Sarah's life was filled with joy and purpose, particularly through her role as a grandmother. Her grandchildren were not just a part of her life; they were the light of her existence. She cherished each moment spent with them, creating memories that they will carry with them forever. Larry was a lifelong member of the Ruritan Club, and he and Sarah actively participated in community service and devoted themselves to fostering friendships and goodwill. They would participate in the National conventions. Their commitment to service and community brought together many who shared similar values, creating lasting connections that enriched their lives and the lives of those around them. Sarah was an avid Redskins fan and she and her husband were able to attend Super Bowl XVII. She loved all her animals and had a crush on Elvis Presley.
She is survived by her two sons: Timothy Jones and wife Elisha Allen and Jeffrey Jones; daughter-in-law Jennifer Jones, two granddaughters: Lindsay and husband Bryan Hsu, and Lauren Jones; six great-grandchildren Addie, Ainsley, Ana, Bryson, Averley, and Hudson; siblings, Richard Delawder (Lilly), Carolyn Casper and Emma Scheel and brother-in-law, Martin Jones and sister-in-law Jenny Hoffmaster and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son Larry Jones, Jr., granddaughter, Morgan Jones and sister-in-law Mary Bartlett
The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A. (Brunswick), 1100 North Maple Avenue in Brunswick, MD.
A celebration of Sarah's life journey will take place at 11 am on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Faith Baptist Church - Knoxville, 2212 Jefferson Pike in Knoxville, MD. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick, MD.
