Frederick

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Scott Baldwin, age 56, of Frederick, Maryland, on Saturday, February 3, 2024. Scott was a friend to many and known as “Hop Scott” and “The Technician”. His kind and generous spirit will live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.

Born Scott Jonathan Baldwin June 8, 1967 in Buffalo, NY, since 1972 he spent most of his life in Frederick County.  Scott graduated Frederick High school (with notable academic achievements and as swim team captain).  Earning an Associate's Degree in Accounting from Frederick Community College, Scott continued his education and graduated from Frostburg State University with honors for Bachelor of Science in Accounting.  Scott most recently worked for Jeffrey Griangrande Corporation.

He is survived by his mother, Mildred Baldwin; brother, Keith Baldwin; and sister, Elaine Baldwin.  To his family and friends, Scott lived the meaning of his middle name; he was a “gift of God” to all.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Vance Baldwin; and brother, Stuart William Baldwin.

Scott " The Technician" Baldwin was a senior instructor for the Golden Knights Karate Club through the City of Frederick Parks and Recreation. Scott joined the Golden Knights in 1983 and was one of the best instructors. He had a great sense of humor that the kids always loved. Scott was a big part of the Karate club camping trip and never missed one while always keeping the kids entertained. Scott ran the club for several years before Covid-19 and did an outstanding job. The “Technician” will be missed.

Scott was a Known as “Hop Scott” in the brewing world. He was a fermentologist making his own beer, wine, cider and mead. Scott loved mostly sharing his hobby with others through conversation and sampling. Scott really loved to ignite an excitement in others about the hobby he enjoyed, and his enthusiasm was infectious. Scott had many passions including cooking, brewing, sci-fi, football, farmer’s markets, and Karate.

Scott would want to be remembered for his karate skills, brewing and wine making knowledge, corny jokes, Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, Tolkien and being an NFL Fan.

We will mostly remember Scott for his eagerness to help others, easy conversation and his kindness. Scott had an impact on many lives and will truly be missed by many.
