Shirley Koons Dudderar, 89, born December 14, 1935, passed away on July 25, 2025. She was the daughter of E. Kenneth and Viola Wantz Koons, Taneytown, MD and wife of the late John D. Dudderar, to whom she was married for 54 years, living in Westminster, MD. Surviving are daughters Dr. Diane Dudderar and Angela Dudderar Mann, grandchildren Rebecca Mann and husband Obens, John Foster, Elizabeth Foster and Lindsay Mann. Also surviving are sister Sandra Peterson, brother James Koons, sister Carole Abbott and sister Lori Ingram. She was pre-deceased by infant son John, brother Edward Koons and sister JoAnn Peterson.
She graduated from Taneytown High School in 1954 and was employed by Potomac Edison Electric Company in Taneytown and later by Seitz Insurance Agency in Westminster, retiring after 20 years.
She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Taneytown, where she sang on the choir for many years and lead the quilting group. She was a volunteer with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Pleasant Valley Volunteer Fire Department and participated in the Linus Project and Dress the Girls. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, quilting, and various other handcrafts.
The family will receive friends from 12:00pm to 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD followed by a celebration of Shirley’s life at 1:00 pm.
