Stanley Lee Cooper, 85, of Knoxville, Maryland, passed away at home after a five-month battle with bladder cancer on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

Born on February 7, 1941, in Brunswick, MD, he was the son of the late Stanley S. Cooper and Ruth (Albert) Cooper.

He graduated from Brunswick High School, class of 1959, and joined the Air Force. After his discharge, he went to work for PEPCO in Washington, DC, until his retirement.

Stan was married to Shirley Arnold Cooper for 64 years. They raised two sons, James Michael and wife Annette, and Jason Scott and wife Terri. He was especially proud of, and dearly loved, his two grandsons, Stanley Thomas and girlfriend Jessica Lee, and Dalton Bryce Cooper.

He is survived by his brother, Larry Milford (Johnny) and his wife Dorothy. He was preceded in death by his brothers, James William and Roy Wendall, and sister, Reba Jane Cooper. He also missed his special nephew, James Billy Cooper.

The family would like to thank his doctors, Dr. Bazzi, Dr. Haseebuddin, Marjorie Palmer CRNP, and Dr. Asuncion for their care. Also, thank you to the hospice nurses, CNA's, and Frederick Health Hospital nursing staff that assisted with his care.

The funeral home will be open for visitation from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Stauffer Funeral Home, P.A., 1100 North Maple Avenue in Brunswick. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Please dress casually.

Graveside services will begin at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 24 at Park Heights Cemetery in Brunswick. A gathering will follow at the Brunswick American Legion.
