Steve Shanton

Steve Shanton, 62, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 9, 2026. He passed peacefully in his sleep in the early morning hours. 

Steve was born on December 25, 1963, in Louisville, KY, he was the son of John Lynn Shanton II (deceased) and Shirley Ann (Begeman) Shanton.

 Both parents and Steve were longtime residents of Frederick County, Maryland, when they moved here in the early 1980’s. Steve was an avid motorcyclist, animal lover, and scuba diver. The only thing he loved more than his Harley was his family. 

Steve is survived by his children, Zachary Shanton and wife, Courtney, son Cameron Shanton, and daughter Hannah Neibecker and husband, Andrew Neibecker, along with the mother of his children, Angela Denise Shanton, and grandchildren Sophia, Rowan, Charlotte, and Cooper. He is also survived by his brother, John Lynn Shanton III and wife, Heather, sister, Kimberly Schaub and husband, Alex, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Steve deeply loved the community of Thurmont and enjoyed the many years he spent growing and raising his family there. 

The family will receive friends and extended family from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 22, 2026 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, 104 East Main Street in Thurmont, MD.
