Summer Reneé Giffin

Summer Reneé Giffin, 20, of Knoxville, Maryland, passed from this life to the waiting arms of her mother on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.

Born on August 25, 2004, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of James Eugene Giffin, Sr. and the late Susan Rebecca Valentine.

She was a 2022 graduate of Boonsboro High School. After high school, she was an admired employee of The Rabbit Hole in Harpers Ferry, WV. Summer was considered a spit fire and had a knack for being the only server to be able to ruffle the cook's feathers. Working at The Rabbit Hole wasn't just a job to Summer, everyone there was her framily.

When she wasn't at work she was hanging with her friends, going to the river, or listening to music in her cramped bedroom. She was the best auntie to Autumn who loved to living room dance with her and do makeup tutorials.

Summer will be sorely missed by her brothers and sisters, James Eugene Giffin, Jr. (Hayley) of Perryville, MD, Destiny Michelle Giffin (David) and their daughter, Autumn, of Knoxville, Chloe Marie Maxwell and CJ Lee Giffin both of Perryville; Granny, Kathy Haskins of Hagerstown; Pappy, Jeffrey Giffin of Perryville; Grandma, Brenda Brawner of Williamsport; aunts and uncles, Jerry Giffin of Williamsport, Robbie (Heather) Waters and Carolyn Waters all of Sharpsburg; many more aunts, uncles and cousins.

In addition to her mother, Summer was welcomed in to heaven by her stepdad, Justin Valentine; uncles, DJ Morrisey, Kaden Willbern and Jimmy Waters; cousin, Tammy Crampton; and her aunt, Shawnee Renee Woods.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro.

Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Washington County.
