Suzanne Acee Maxey, age 74, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, surrounded by family.
She was born on April 4, 1954 in York, Pennsylvania, to Adro Puma and Walter Brehm.
Suzanne devoted her career to education, serving first as a teacher, resource teacher and dean of students before spending the majority of her career as a dedicated principal of Bowie High School in Bowie, MD, Seneca Valley High School in Germantown, MD, and T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, VA. She was well respected for her leadership, positive school culture, and the way she made people feel. Her influence extended far beyond the walls of the schools, leaving a lasting impact on the communities she served.
While her professional accomplishments are many, Suzanne’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife and enjoyed traveling and watching sports with her husband. She provided unconditional love, support, and guidance to her two sons and could always be found cheering them on at every sporting event. Her grandchildren brought her tremendous joy, and she made them feel deeply loved through even the simplest interactions.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Maxey; her sons, Ryan and Jason Maxey; her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Maxey; her grandchildren, Addison, Emma, and Cameron Maxey; and her brother, Robert Brehm.
She will be deeply missed, but her love, lessons, and legacy will remain with all who knew her.
An evening visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. A morning visitation will also be held from 9 to 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 21st. Funeral Services will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday. All will take place at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
