Sylvia Kaufman Cable

Sylvia Kaufman Cable passed away on March 6, 2024 at Homewood at Crumland Farms. She was born in New York City on October 5, 1936 to Elizabeth and Michael Kaufman. She was the wife of the late Dr. Dana G. Cable who passed away in 2010.  

Sylvia was born in New York City, later moving to Old Greenwich Connecticut.  She graduated from Old Greenwich High School, attended college in the first year of women’s enrollment at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. She then moved to Frederick Maryland to be closer to family, which became her home for 53 years.   

Sylvia enjoyed needlepoint, theater, music and traveling. She was a member of the Fredericktown Players for many years. Sylvia and Dana loved to travel. Their travels took them all over the world with many memorable adventures and friends made along the way.   

Sylvia loved her cats. So much that she was the first recipient of a robotic cat given to her by the volunteers at Homewood. This cat brought her much comfort over the years while she battled dementia and Parkinson’s disease.  

Surviving are her daughter Jennifer Morgan and husband Patrick Ellis of Myersville; sister-in-law Penny Cable Saxton of Brookville PA; grandchildren Sarah Bussard (Clay), Ryan Morgan (Sarah), Jared Cable, Samantha Cable, and Taylor Sullivan; great-grandchildren Nathan, Rebecca, Brooks, Morgan, Ryder, Ruby; and several nieces and nephews. She is also remembered by her long-time close friend Cynthia Puhala.  

In addition to her parents and husband, Sylvia was predeceased by her son David S. Cable, grandson Alex Cable, sister Averill Kaufman, sister Victoria Forrest, and sister-in-law Christina Cable.  

The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick Md on Saturday March 9, 2024 from 10:00am to 11:00 am followed by a funeral service at 11. Officiating will be Rev. Tim May.

Burial to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in the Mausoleum.

Donations can be made to Michael J Fox foundation or the Alzheimer’s Association in her name.
