Born on January 26, 1941, in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, she was the daughter of the late Tae Yong Chong and Chun Hwa (Lee) Chong. Teresa was a young child during the Korean War and endured many hardships, experiences that strengthened her enduring faith in God.
Teresa was a well-liked restaurant owner in Silver Spring, Maryland, for 20 years. She was deeply devoted to her church and faithfully served as a deacon at Global Mission Church in Maryland, where she also taught the AGAPE ministry course for many years. After moving to Georgia, she continued her service as a deacon at Augusta Korean Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Andrew Gonciarz, and daughter-in-law, Laura, of Frederick; her beloved grandchildren, Sydney and Chance; and her brother-in-law, Joey Ricard of Romney, West Virginia. She is also survived by her brother, DuYong Chong, and sister, Soon Hur, both of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, as well as her cherished nieces, JiYun and Anne, and nephews, GiTae and Joon.
She was preceded in death by her older brother, DaeYong Chong, and her older sister, PongCha.
