Teresa Lin May

Teresa "Terry" Lin May, 66, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away September 13, 2025, just two days shy of her 67th birthday. Born on September 15, 1958, Terry filled the lives of everyone around her with love, laughter, and kindness.

She was the devoted wife of Paul E. May, Jr., having just celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on September 10th. Together they built a beautiful life of love and cherished memories. She was a devoted sister to Charles "Chuck" W. Burgess (Melanie); William "Bill" M. Burgess (Julie), and Penny M. Shumate (David); as well as a proud and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart; and a dear friend to many.

She is now reunited in heaven with her parents, Betty J. Scharf (Burgess, Rexrode) and father Charles "Gary" G. Burgess; her beloved nephew, Jack Jones; and her furbabies that she adored, Chelsea, Gracie, Brandy & Lilly.

A 1976 graduate of Linganore High School, Terry built a long career with the Frederick County Government, where she was admired for her dedication before retiring.

She cherished every opportunity to be surrounded by the people she loved most. She especially loved hosting the annual Thanksgiving family dinner, where her home was filled with warmth, laughter and the joy of togetherness. At Christmas time, her home came alive with love and tradition that could have been lifted straight from a Hallmark movie. She also enjoyed making treasured memories with her loved ones (Shelly, Jerry, Sandy, Den, Steph, Scott, Amanda) on her road trips to the Outer Banks, Orlando, Atlantic City, Charleston, and Las Vegas.

Above all, Terry will be remembered for her genuine spirit, practical outlook on life (it is what it is), her incredible sense of humor, and her unwavering love for her family.

Family and friends are invited to honor Teresa's life during visitation on Monday, September 22, 2025, from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Stauffer Funeral Home, Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. A celebration of life will take place the following day, Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 1:00 pm, with burial to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
