Terry Eugene Flannery, 78, of New Market, Maryland, passed away at home on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

Born on April 2, 1947, in Switzer, West Virginia, Terry was the son of the late Addie Eugene and Beatrice (Riffe) Flannery.

Terry graduated from Waynesboro High School, Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. An outstanding athlete, he attended and graduated from Western State University of Colorado on a football scholarship.

He was a school teacher, football and wrestling coach, Maryland State Trooper, property management executive, and Drivers' Ed Instructor.

He was a member of the American Legion, Woodsboro, MD; Amvets Post 2, Frederick, MD; Eagles Club, Frederick, MD; Elks Lodge, Frederick, MD; Moose Lodge, Frederick, MD; Redman, Frederick, MD; and a Mason, Gunnison, CO.

Terry is survived by his wife, Sally McEwan (Hamilton) Flannery, son, Joseph Brian (Lynn) Flannery, grandson, Dylan Scott (Becca) Flannery, great-grandson, Trevor Nathaniel Flannery, brother, Jerry C. (Gloria) Flannery, sister, Annette (Bruce) Ostertag, nephew, Jeff (Leeann) Hatcher, niece, Chloe Flannery, nephews Jared and Derek (Traci) Ostertag, great-nieces Kennedy and Reese Hatcher, and great-nephew Logan Hatcher, sister-in-law, Hope (Bill) Collins, brother-in-law, Dave (Dawn) Hamilton, and many additional nieces, nephews, and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Terry is preceded in death by his son Terry Scott (Tammy) Flannery, brother Garry P. Flannery, father-in-law Bill Hamilton, mother-in-law Elizabeth Hamilton, sister-in-law Annee Hamilton, and brother-in-law Jim Hamilton.

A celebration of Terry's life will take place on Sunday, May 3, 2026, from 1:00 - 4:00 pm at Amvets Post 2 Farm, 9602A Baltimore Road, Frederick, MD, 21704.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or a charity of your choice.
