Thomas D. Noonan, age 75, of Walkersville, MD passed away on July 16, 2024 while on vacation in St. John, US Virgin Islands with his wife and sister-in-law. Tom was born on January 11,1949 in Waltham, MA to James and Mildred Glascow Noonan, who pre-deceased him.
Tom, who spent his early childhood years in Cleveland, OH and Birmingham, MI, graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in Wilmington, DE. He then attended the University of Delaware, where he earned a B.S. Degree in Agriculture. He and Carol moved to Maryland to begin his career with Southern States Cooperative for 40 years, and he retired as the Manager of Southern States Cooperative in Woodsboro, MD. Tom, who always enjoyed helping people, then worked as a Rehabilitation Aide at Rose Hill, and later at Amber Hill Physical Therapy. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family, tinkering in the garage, keeping up with friends and family on Facebook, and rooting for the Baltimore Ravens.
Tom was an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and a lifetime member of the Walkersville Volunteer Rescue Co. (WVRC), where he served as a past President, Deputy Chief and Line Officer. He was also a lifetime member of the Walkersville Volunteer Fire Co. (WVFC). Tom attended St. Timothy Catholic Church in Walkersville, MD.
He is survived by his caring and dedicated wife of almost 53 years, Carol, daughter Melissa (Frank Mason) Noonan of Baltimore, MD, and daughter Katie Noonan of Burbank, CA, brother Jay (Lil) Noonan, brother-in-law Wayne Smeigh and his daughter Jessica (Shane) Walsh and their son Parker. He was pre-deceased by his sister, Nancy Noonan Smeigh, and brother-in-law Gary Slayton.
Tom also leaves behind his sister-in-law Susan (Doug Slama) Slayton, and her son Christopher Slayton, Carol’s aunt Ann Gallagher and daughter Beth Gallagher, and many other well-loved relatives, friends and neighbors.

The family will receive visitors on August 7, 2024 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Stauffer’s Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702. A Mass will be held at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 8651 Biggs Ford Rd, Walkersville, MD on August 8, 2024 at 11:00 am.
