Timothy DeWitt Wilson of Mt. Airy, 74, died May 9th, 2025 after suffering a heart attack on April 2, 2025.
Tim was born December 21, 1950 in Takoma Park, MD to the late Talmadge Wilson, Sr. and Katherine Renn Wilson. After graduating in South Carroll High School's first graduating class, he joined the team at Damascus Motors, Inc. as an automotive technician. When his country called, Tim joined the US Army, serving in Vietnam as an Aviation Technician, keeping the helicopters combat ready and flying. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Tim went back to work for Damascus Motors. When Tim's father was diagnosed with ALS, Tim went back to the home dairy farm to keep it in business, shipping milk to Maryland Milk Producers Cooperative, Inc. When Tim's brother came home to continue the dairy operation, Tim continued to support the farm while working for a number of auto body shops, including Damascus Motors, Flick's Auto Body, and Twin Ridge Auto Body. Tim was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed hunting all his life, starting early with his rabbit dog, named Flower. Tim was a member of Mount Airy Baptist Church and a born again Christian. Tim enjoyed going to auto races, Carlisle Auto Shows, and Farm Machinery Auctions. Tim spent time with his sons playing card games, catch, basketball, riding go-carts, playing miniature golf, and arcade games. He is survived by children Timothy Wilson II (Amber), Joshua Wilson (Olivera), and Brett Wilson (Abigail) from a marriage to Mary Calhoun. He has seven grandchildren: Levi, David, Trinity, and Hadassa through Tim, along with Ransom, Tabitha, and Justice through Brett. He is also survived by brothers Talmadge Wilson, Jr.(Sheron) and Ralph Wilson both of Mt. Airy, sister Eileen Huggins of Smithfield, NC, with nieces, nephews, and cousins. Tim is remembered by friends, Jim Warfield, Charlie Summers, Darrell Law, and Roger Tabler. Tim will be missed.
Services will be held at Mt. Airy Baptist Church on Tuesday, May 20th, with visitation at 11AM, funeral at 12PM, and graveside at 1PM at the Pine Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mt. Airy Baptist Church, 1402 N Main St, Mt Airy, MD 21771.
