Vasilios (Billy) Fotios Ferentinos, 56, of Damascus, Maryland, passed away on September 27, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his children, Rachael Ferentinos and Nicholas Ferentinos; his granddaughter, Stella Ferentinos; his mother, Vasiliki Ferentinos; his siblings, Evagelos Ferentinos and Georgia Foundas; his brother-in-law, George Foundas; and his many nieces and nephews who adoringly referred to him as Uncle “B”. He is now reunited with his beloved father, Fotios Ferentinos, who preceded him in death.
He was born in Greece and raised in Maryland before relocating to Rhode Island, where he established his family. It was there that he founded and successfully built a national business in background screening. He later returned to Maryland, where he transitioned from a business owner to working alongside his friends and relatives at the family restaurant until his passing.
His two greatest loves were spending time with family, especially his granddaughter who he enjoyed shopping for, and appreciating the cinematic work of the horror genre, ultimately earning him the titles of founder, president, and official member of the Michael Myers Fan Club. He was the life of every gathering, whether it was a sporting event, a casino trip, or a casual game night at home. He was a man whose presence was guaranteed to include a round of sarcastic jokes and a very carefully executed prank. He was a feared competitor at the poker table and often proved his expertise as a sports gambling and fantasy football wizard. Additionally, he was a devoted pet lover, which was evident in his willingness to pet-sit for any family members in need. In the end, he was simply a man who loved his family, a good scare, and the occasional alcoholic beverage to celebrate it all.
One of his final acts of devotion was establishing a 529 College Fund for his granddaughter, Stella. The family asks that in lieu of sending flowers, you please consider contributing to her savings plan at Stella's College Savings.
The family will host a visitation on Thursday, October 2 from 6:00PM - 8:00PM at Stauffer Funeral Home in Frederick. A formal funeral service will be held on Friday, October 3 at 10:00AM at Sts. Peter & Paul Greek Orthodox Church in Frederick. The burial service will immediately follow at All Souls Cemetery in Germantown.
May his memory be eternal.
