Mrs. Velvet Mae Compton, 87 of Mt. Airy, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2006 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Rudolph Compton who passed away in 1989.

Born May 7, 1919 in Tazewell, VA, she was the daughter of the late Flossie Pearl Collins and Will Ed Graham.

Mrs. Compton devoted her life to her family.

She is survived by two daughters, Rosemary Helsel and husband Jim, Rita Hamilton and husband Wayne all of Mt. Airy, MD; three sons, Tolby Rudolph Compton and wife Hannelore of Pikeville, KY, Ronnie Compton and wife Shelby of Gaithersburg, MD and Rickey Compton of Frederick, MD; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one brother, Roscoe Graham of Ft. Worth, TX; and, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Henry Ray Compton; three sisters, Leona Virginia Graham, Lena Clytis Butts, Geraldine Toth; and, two brothers, Edward Junior Graham and Luke Lindburgh Graham.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy, MD.,on Tuesday December 19, from 7:00-9:00 p.m.

Services: Services will be held on Wednesday, December 20, at 11:00 a.m. at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd, Mt. Airy, MD, with Rev. Susan E. Boehl officiating. Interment Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick. MD.
