Walden (Wally) William Whipple, 69, of Keymar, MD, died November 18, 2025, in his sleep. He was born January 15, 1956, in Gallup, NM, the son of Wilford Walden and Shirley Whipple. He attended San Juan County schools and graduated from Kirtland Central High School in 1974. He attended San Juan Community College and Brigham Young University.
Wally married Peggy Leggett on April 24, 1982. He was an invaluable part of his community and a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He worked the majority of his professional career at Fort Detrick, Maryland. Wally was friends with everyone and loved making connections with others. His favorite thing was to make delicious food and treats for family, friends, and neighbors. He was always willing to serve his fellow neighbor and friend. He loved talking to everyone, no matter what walk of life.
Wally is survived by his wife, Peggy Whipple, of Keymar, MD, his son Walt Whipple (Brandi), his daughters Becky Coleman (Noah), Rachael Bracken (Matt), Raelee Whipple (Saxton), and Rhea Whipple, his mother Shirley Whipple, brothers Dewayne Whipple (Mary), Warren Whipple (Terry), Kelvin Whipple (Liz), Shirland Whipple, his sisters, Tonya Bailey, Shirette Moore and aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Wally was preceded in death by his father, Wilford Walden Whipple, and daughter, Ruth Clark.
Please join us in celebrating Wally’s life on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. Memorial service at 11 am, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1811 Latham Drive, Frederick, MD 21701. A memorial service in Kirtland, NM, will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation in honor of his daughter, Ruth Clark.
