Walter Armstrong McKinney

Walter Armstrong McKinney, 86, of Frederick County, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 19th 2025.

Born in Libertytown, Walter was the beloved son of the late Katherine Fox and Walter Norris McKinney. Throughout his life, Walter was known for his kind heart, quiet strength, and love for simple pleasures.

He is survived by his loving partner, Pam Fox, and his two daughters, Stacey Wachter and Shelley Suskind, along with Shelley’s family.

An active and social member of the community, Walter enjoyed his time at the dance club in Woodsboro and treasured his regular breakfasts with close friends at McDonald’s. His passion for horseback riding, the outdoors, and rodeos reflected his adventurous spirit and love of nature. Road trips with Pam were a particular joy for him, often filled with laughter and discovery.

Walter found joy in everyday moments-especially evening chats in the circle with his neighbors, where stories were shared and friendships strengthened.

Walter will be missed by many.

A service to honor his life, the family will receive friends from 10-11 AM on Wednesday, September 24 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, Maryland where a funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Frederick Hospice, in appreciation of the compassionate care provided in Walter's final days.
