He was an avid BINGO player, card player, loved playing the horses at Charles Town Race Course, and after retirement enjoyed traveling.

O. Wayne Hoffman, 93, of Hidden Golf in Winter Haven, Florida and Brunswick, Maryland passed away Thursday, May 28, 2026.

Born May 1, 1933 in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, he was the son of Evelyn Hoffman Jackson.

He attended Harpers Ferry High School. He was a Korean War veteran serving with the U.S. Army Engineers in Germany and France.

Wayne retired in June 1989 from the Department of Logistics, Fort Detrick, in Frederick, MD.

He was a 60-year lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles 1136, Brunswick; lifetime member of Moose International Lodge 1283, Winchester VA, and a member of Steadman-Keenan American Legion, Post 96, Brunswick.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Betty DeHaven Hoffman; his son, Christopher Hoffman (Lynne Hartman) of Fairless Hills, PA; his two daughters, Kimberly Pessognelli (Kenneth) of York, PA, and Pamela O’Connor (Richard) of Brunswick, MD. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Corey Gaffney, Michael Hoffman, Kate Becket, Sarah McCall, Heather Hanley, Angela Thomas, and Benjamin Pessognelli; 10 great-grandchildren; his sister, Sharon Wysong (Jack) of Charles Town, WV; and nieces, nephews, cousins; and friends in FL and MD.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, William E Jackson; brother, Dale Hoffman; step-brothers, William Jackson and Paul Jackson; and step-sister, Dorothy Jackson.

The family will receive friends and family beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, 1100 N. Maple Ave in Brunswick. A memorial service of Wayne’s life will take place at 12 p.m. with Dr. Henry Christie officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Park Heights Cemetery in Brunswick.
