William, “Bill”, Chester Hutchison passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at the age of 80. Bill was born December 2, 1942 in Takoma Park, MD to William and Fay Hutchison. He was the oldest of three siblings.
Bill was proceeded in death by his wife, Margaret, who passed away July 31, 2022. Bill and Margaret were married 55+ years. Bill is survived by his daughter Dena and her husband, Rob Koerts Meijer and his son, Billy and his wife Michelle Hutchison. Bill and Margaret have 6 wonderful grandchildren Bill, Chris, Alec, Hunter Hutchison as well as Kaleb and his wife Alyson who are expecting Bill’s first great grandchild, and Keanu Koerts Meijer and his girlfriend Megan Smith.
Bill is also survived by his brother and wife, John and Jan Hutchison of New Jersey and Bill’s sister and husband, Patti and Charlie Wright of Nebraska.
Bill was an Airforce veteran, serving in Vietnam for one year then worked as a civilian for the Navy for 40 years. He was a devoted husband and family man coaching his son’s baseball teams, leading his Boy Scott troop, and even making an “electric” costume for one of his daughter’s dance routines. Bill loved to play sports and was an avid golfer, playing into his last year.
Bill was also a great cook and was a “foodie” before it was cool.
Bill was married to the love of his life, Margaret, for 55 ½ beautiful years. They loved to be with their family, travel, cook, host get togethers and parties. They retired to Fenwick Island in 2014 where they made even more memories with their new friends in Swann Keys. They were very active with their community serving on the board, joining the various clubs at the community center, and discovered pickleball.
Funeral services will be held at Stauffer Funeral Home at 1100 N. Maple Ave., Brunswick, MD 21701 on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 11:00am with a reception to follow at Potomac Believers Fellowship at 3525 Petersville Rd., Knoxsville, MD 21758.
