William Frederick Etchison, 63, of Taneytown, went to his heavenly home on May 24th, 2024, after a brief fight with cancer. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Bill was born on March 6, 1961 to Clarence and Ida Etchison of Frederick, Maryland. Growing up on his family’s dairy farm, Bill learned the values of hard work, perseverance, and responsibility. After Bill graduated from Frederick High School in 1979, he went on to work for machine shops before opening his own business, Missionary Machine, in 1994. Missionary Machine celebrated 30 years of business in May 2024.
Bill was a faithful man who loved the Lord, his family, church, and community. For years he enjoyed Sunday service at Uniontown Bible Church in Union Bridge, MD.
In 2013, Bill met Debra Collingwood at Missionary Machine. After four years of working together, they started dating. Bill and Debra have gone on many adventures together, including trips to Harrisonburg, VA; Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge, TN, and Elkins, WV. They were together for seven years and happily married in May 2024.
In the mid-nineties, Bill became a pilot. He flew his family and friends on numerous trips out of the Frederick Airport. To name a few, he flew his daughter, Jessica, to Cumberland, his nieces Karie and Carol to visit his sister Julie in Port Tobacco, and his sister Leah and friends to New York.
Bill has always been a lover of the outdoors and a motorcycle enthusiast. Bill was a member of R & T Motorcycle Club. He visited the mountains of Colorado, the Redwoods of Northern California, the experience of Baja, Appalachia from North Carolina to the New York border and many more.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ida and Clarence Etchison, and his uncles, Jon Williams, Ronald Williams and Lee Etchison.
Bill is survived by his wife Debra Etchison, daughter, Jessica Harris and husband, Bryant Harris, and his granddaughters, Scarlett and Stella. He is survived by his siblings, Julie Burgess and brother-in-law Bill, Leah Etchison and brother-in-law Mike Milly, and Brian Etchison and sister-in-law Sandra. He is also survived by Leslie Albright, the mother of his daughter, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at Walkersville Community Park on June 15th from 1 pm to 5 pm. We invite all who knew and loved him to join us in remembering a remarkable man whose legacy will live on in our hearts forever. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Uniontown Bible Church.
