William Edward Fisher

William Edward Fisher, 96, passed peacefully on Sunday evening March 5, 2023 at Gilchrist Hospice of Columbia, MD. 

He lived in Cooksville, Maryland with his beloved wife of 76 years, Theresa Fisher. 

William was born in Ohio on May 11, 1926 to the late William Samuel Fisher and Eveyln (Robinson) Fisher.

He served in WWII in the Navy. For decades he was a heavy equipment mechanic and
operator. He loved life to the fullest being a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather.

He enjoyed gardening, wood carving and being the handyman for everyone.

In addition to his wife, Theresa, he is survived by his brother, Joseph Fisher and wife, Nancy Fisher; niece, Bethany Fisher; four daughters, Linda Fisher, DianeHowell and husband, Hobie Howell, Nancy Bell and husband, Greg Bell, and Renee Smith and husband, Larry Smith; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Zeitler and husband, Jerry Zeitler, Tim DeSombre and wife, Amy DeSombre, Corinne DeSombre, Stacy Patterson and husband, Ray Patterson, Keith Bell and wife, Sarah Bell, Jeff Smith and wife, Maggie Smith, and Justin Smith and wife, Erin Smith; nineteen great grandchildren, Matthew Zeitler and wife, Rachel Zeitler, Michael Zeitler, Jordan Zeitler, Jesse Zeitler, Noah Zeitler, Ella Zeitler, Jacob Zeitler, Cora Winfelder, Jordan DeSombre, Brandan DeSombre, Cortney Caronna and husband, Joe Caronna, Luke Patterson, Brody Bell, Jaylen Bell, Bryar Bell, Madalyn Smith, Rowan Smith, Meredith Smith, Reed Smith; six great- great grandchildren, Carter Blakeley, Griffin Zeitler, Vincent Caronna, William (Liam) Caronna, Luca Patterson and Cohen Zeitler.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Samuel Fisher and Evelyn (Robinson) Fisher; siblings, Tom Fisher and Eveyln Linton; nieces, Vicky McClure and Barbara Bradley.

The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt Airy, MD 21771 on Thursday
March 9, 2023 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at  St. Michaels Catholic Church, 1125 St. Michaels Road, Mt.Airy, MD 21771  on Friday, March 10, 2023 at 10:00am.

Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens 2150 Mount View Road, Marriottsville, MD 21104.

Luncheon to follow at St Michaels Catholic Church.
