William “Bill” Sheridan Reinhardt, 73 of Sharpsburg, Maryland passed away at Meritus Medical Center of a hemorrhagic stroke on Saturday November 22, 2025.
He was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 25, 1952 to William Joseph Reinhardt and Patricia Baker Reinhardt but spent many of his formative years in Dallas, Texas. As a teenager, his father was transferred to McLean, Virginia where Bill graduated from McLean High School. He joined the United States Army and as a career military man he spent a collective 34 years and rose to the rank of Major. He graduated from George Mason University in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
Bill was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed bike riding, bow hunting, fishing, and taking walks through the countryside. He endeavored to be a life-long learner and loved learning about American history especially the Civil War, the old west, and World War II. He had a hardy laugh that would resonate when he found something particularly funny. In his later years, he would frequently watch his grandchildren and spending time with them gave him great joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Katherine “Kate” Harris and most recently, his loving wife Ruth “Ruthie” Schneck-Reinhardt. He is survived by his daughters Patricia (Tom) Davies, Mary (James) Hernandez, son Thomas Reinhardt, and step-son Erich (Laurie) Vogel; his sister Patricia (Hector) Mondragon, his brothers James (Teresa) Reinhardt, and John (Kara) Reinhardt. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Theodore, Charles, Joseph, Rosalie, and Violet and step-grandchildren Jenna and Carly.
A viewing will be held on Friday December 5, 2025 from 2:00 to 6:00pm at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home in Boonsboro, MD. A celebration of life with a service will take place at a later date in May or June of 2026.
