William Henry Scheetz "Bill", 73, of Frederick, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024 at his home. He was the husband of 52 years to Beverly Ann (May) Scheetz. Born on September 21, 1950, in Baltimore City, he was the son of the late Dorsey Scheetz, Sr. and Frances May (Smith) Scheetz.
Mr. Scheetz was a US Army veteran, having served his country in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1971, but remained in the Army Reserve Corps until 1974.
His first job was at Shuff's Meat Market in Thurmont, at a very early age. He retired in 2008 after 38 years working for the City of Frederick. Over the years, Bill obtained his Master Electrician and Master HVAC certifications, and at the time of his retirement, he was the superintendent of street lighting, traffic control and sign department. He owned and operated "Bill's TV and Electric" for 30 years. After his retirement, he worked at Skate Frederick alongside his son, Will.
Bill belonged to the Fraternal Order of the Moose, Family Center #371, AMVETS Post #2, and he loved playing competitive pool, starting in 1997 until his passing.
In addition to his wife, Bev, he is survived by his children: Loretta Ann Smith (Wayne), Jennifer Lynn Harrison (Brian), William Ray Scheetz (Melissa), Henry Monroe Scheetz; 7 Grandchildren: Shawn Lester Harrison, Kyle William Harrison (Ashton), Angel Victoria Scheetz, Dylan James Scheetz, Landon Tyler Scheetz, Gavin Thomas Scheetz, Owen William Scheetz; as well as his Great-Granddaughter, Ava Mae "Tank" Harrison. Mr. Scheetz is survived by a brother, Richard Scheetz (Mary), 3 sisters, Carol Lindsay (Bill), Frances Burriss and Linda Baker. He is also remembered by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as a special great niece, Daisy H. Blush.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Harvey Scheetz and Dorsey Scheetz, Jr. and his sisters Ana Scheetz and Patsy Franklin. He was also preceded in death by his beloved fur baby, Foxy Girl, his Pomeranian.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 22 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 23 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Stauffer Funeral Home, Rev. Tim May will officiate. The family will receive guests an hour prior to services. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
Memorial donations may be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital or ASPCA.
