Yvonne Gosnell
Born on July 22, 1933, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, she was the daughter of the late Clifton and Emily Watkins Burns. Her late grandfather, Milton Watkins helped raise her.
Yvonne loved books and children and had the perfect job at the Mt. Airy Elementary School as a teachers assistant and with the Head Start Program. She then started working as a librarian in 1974 in the original library in the Flat Iron Building. A few months later they moved to what is now the Town Hall and then in 1993 to it's current location on Ridge Avenue working until her retirement in 1995. After her retirement she volunteered at the library's Children's Story Time once a week.
She is survived by her two daughters: Joyce Gosnell, and Robin Hubble both of Mt. Airy; three grandchildren: Andy Hubble, Daniel Hubble and wife Stephanie and Scott Hubble and wife Amber; seven great grandchildren: Reagan, Kayleigh, Colton, Cameron, Damien, Vincent and Max Hubble; as well a numerous nieces and nephews; also her siblings: Charles "Nip" Burns and Kitty Lowman both of Mt. Airy. She was preceded in death by her brother Courtney "Dick" Burns and her best friend Nancy Alexander.
Graveside service and interment will take place at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 11, at Pine Grove Cemetery in Mt. Airy.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Mt. Airy Volunteer Fire Company, Frederick Health Hospice or the Humane Society.
