Anna Hurd

November 1, 1934 — October 29, 2019

Anna Catherine Hurd, 84, entered Heaven's gates peacefully at her home on Tuesday, October 29, 2019.  She was the youngest of seven children, born on November 1, 1934, to Harry Edward Orem, Sr. and Fannie Elizabeth Carroll. She was preceded in death by all of her siblings,    (Harry “Eddie” E. Orem, Jr., Clark "Bubbie" A. Orem, Francis E. Robinson, Dorothy "Dotty" Orem, Ruth "Newty" Brown, and Edith "Bushie" Luckett)

Anna was born and raised in Fredrick, Maryland, where she lived her entire life. She went to Lincoln High School and worked in various positions including working as a bookkeeper for Hurd's Refinishing Company owned and operated by her husband Herman Augustus Hurd who she married in 1982.  Herman preceded Anna in death on May 14, 2012.

Anna was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, homemaker, remarkable cook and baker. She loved to sing, crochet, cook, and bake for her family. She would always try out new recipes she found on the “Food Network Channel."  She treasured her children and loved being surrounded by them.  She especially loved being Grandma to her grandchildren and loved all of her family.  Anna loved life and was a thoughtful and caring person and did whatever she could do to help others.  She loved reading the bible, particularly Psalms. She was a kind and loving person that was loved, she will be missed and forever cherished.

She is survived by three children: Larry "Vicky" Orem, Cynthia "Cindy" V. Hurd, and Herman "Harley" Hurd; three grandchildren: Ihsan H. Orem "Victoria", Eric Boyce and Deondre Boyce, one great grandchild, Naima Ihmani Orem; a loving sister-in-law, Beryl Orem, and many loving relatives and friends.
