Betty Stambaugh

Betty Jane Stambaugh, 93, passed away on January 7, 2021.

Born November 6, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Clarence W. Andrew and Edith M. Alexander Andrew. Betty was the oldest child of 18 children, that included 9 boys and 9 girls.

She is survived by her brothers, James, Samuel, Paul, Eugene and Franklin Andrew; and sisters, Rosie Eyler, Anna Hughes, Ruth Shane, Sarah McNair, Barbara Wantz, Harriet Burhman, and Belinda Fogle; and their families.

She was predeceased by Martin Andrew, Edward Andrew, Donald Andrew Sr., George Andrew, and Mary Brown.

Betty helped her mother with taking care of helping with her younger siblings. She was married to the late William (Bill) Stambaugh which they were married for 46 years. Betty was a hard worker in her time. She cleaned many homes and a few small businesses in the Thurmont area. In her younger years, she enjoyed going to antique malls with her husband.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and had a special relationship with her brother, George. Although Betty never had children, she enjoyed watching her nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews growing up. Betty had some fond memories of the ones that were closest to her.

She was a lifelong member of Weller United Methodist Church in Thurmont. She enjoyed going to music festivals at Mt. Tabor Park. She was a fan of blue grass music, and always looked forward to the yearly gatherings that her brother, Edward, would host.

She was a kind and generous person and had special relationships with each of her family members. She will be greatly missed.

The family wishes to thank Hospice, the Kline House, special mention to Katrina and the nursing staff and aides at he Kline House, and special thanks to Michelle, home visiting nurse, and April.

Graveside services will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 14 at Blue Ridge Cemetery with Pastor Bob Kells officiating.

Arrangements are with Stauffer Funeral Home, Thurmont.
