Born Beverly Ann Smith on October 27, 1931, she grew up in the town of Duluth, MN, where she enjoyed being active with the girl scouts, ice skating, forming a drama club meeting in her garage and performing plays for the neighborhood. She attended Business school and specialized in accounting. Then moved with her parents to Ocala Fla. where she worked as an accountant and helped her family open a small hotel and coffee shop. There she met her future husband Richard Leroy Browning, who at the time was enlisted in the Navel Air Force. They married and moved to Montgomery Co. MD, where Richard’s family resided. She resided in Montgomery Co until Richards passing in 1993 and later retired to Ocean Pines, MD.

As a young woman in Washington, she found work at Johns Hopkins University accounting dept. in Silver Spring, MD. Then after starting a family they moved to Rockville, MD and she worked with Progressive Color Publishing and Printing Co. in Rockville MD. Beverly loved traveling, art, and music. She traveled with her husband Richard in their RV through many states and four corners of the US. She enjoyed 40 years of marriage with him. She loved playing the piano also. She also collected art, from different artists that she met at Progressive Color, where they had a special way of making special edition prints from artists best works. She took great delight and pride in framing and mounting each piece in the perfect spot in her home. She made lasting friendships with some of these artists, appreciating their works.

As she became older, she experienced beauty in everyday life by spending time with her three grandchildren, and only daughter Julianne & her husband Jim. She is also survived by her sister Joan Barr of Berlin, MD and brother Jerry Smith of Andover, MN.

She loved painting all their days with sunshine by attending all their many activities, enjoying cooking and celebrating all holidays with her family.

A loving, loyal friend to her daughter and all who knew her. Always a pillar of strength and optimism as she fought off Alzheimer’s disease. Your selfless, brave fight will always be with us, we will remember you always as giving and kind mother, grandmother, and sister.
