Bonnie Welty

Mrs. Bonnie E. Welty, 83, of Knoxville, MD, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of James M. Welty her husband of 64 years.

Born on September 2, 1931 in Burkittsville, MD she was the daughter of the late Foster Fenton and Melissa Ausherman Fink and foster daughter of Atlee and Lydia Horine of Burkittsville. Before her retirement, Bonnie worked as a case worker for the Frederick County Department of Social Services.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter of Frederick, past worthy matron of Brunswick Chapter and past member of the Grand Chapter of Maryland.

Bonnie enjoyed spending time at the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia. She was a wonderful and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She is at peace today in the arms of her mother who died when she was 3 months old.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Karin Lind and husband Robert of Woodsboro and a son, Keith Welty of Knoxville; 5 grandchildren, Ryan Reynolds, Emily Reynolds, James Lind, Keria Gibson and Samantha Whiting; 6 great-grandchildren, Hayden and Haley Reynolds, Rylee and Rowan Nelson, Taylor Gibson and Aidan Whiting.

Mrs. Welty was the last of her immediate family and was preceded in death by 2 sisters Gay Barron and Caroline Hargett and 4 brothers, Edward, Ray, Harold and Cletus Fink. She was also preceded in death by 2 daughters-in-law Deborah Welty and Linda Welty.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 N. Maple Avenue, Brunswick, where Eastern Star services will begin at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, at the Christ Reformed United Church of Christ, 12 South Church Street, Middletown with Rev. Mark Wakefield officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Christ Reformed United Church of Christ, 12 South Church Street, Middletown, MD 21769.

Interment will take place in the church cemetery.
