Cassidy Hahn Shaw, 35, recently of Jefferson, Maryland, passed from this life peacefully on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at home surrounded by her family.
Born on August 6, 1985 in Rochester, NY, she was the daughter of Eric William Hahn and Lori Elizabeth (Bahamonde) Bahamonde-DiGiambattista.
Cassidy was a 2003 graduate of Webster Schroeder High School, and she received her bachelor’s degree from SUNY: Oswego. She also graduated with a master’s degree from SUNY: Fredonia and received her Ph.D from West Virginia University. She worked for the United States Geological Survey and United States Department of Agriculture as a Fish Health Scientist. Her last employer was Vermont Fish and Wildlife where she was the Fish Culture Section Manager.
Cassidy was an adventurous soul who filled her thirty-five years with a lifetime of experiences. Cassidy spent her life immersed in nature. She especially loved lakes and rivers. She surrounded herself with living things; friends, children, dogs, cats, and gardens full of flowers. Cassidy was a person who touched everyone she met with her kindness and easy-going manner. Easy to laugh and always ready with a helping hand. Cassidy found joy in the tiniest moments. Her love of life was contagious. Cassidy's spirit lives on in her two children.
She is survived by her husband, George Shaw, son, Henry Shaw, daughter, Nadia Shaw, father, Eric Hahn, mother Lori Bahamonde-DiGiambattista, as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:30 pm on Sunday, January 10th at Thorpewood, 12805 Mink Farm Rd, Thurmont, MD 21788. Following visitation, the family will hold a private funeral service.
Memorial donations may be made to Hope for Two, Third Strand, or the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation.
