C. Nadene Whayland, 93, died Monday, June 3, 2019, in Baltimore. She had lived for many years in Timonium, and before that in Salisbury, Ocean Pines, and Baltimore.

Nadene was born August 6, 1925, in Hagerstown, where she grew up and went through school and secretarial college. She was the daughter of the late Curtis and Mary Deter Cover. She was the loving wife of James W. Whayland, who died in 2001. She was also preceded in death by her brother, C. Coleman Cover, who died in 1964. She is survived by four nieces and two nephews, and numerous cousins and friends.

Nadene was a graduate of Hagerstown High School and Strayer College. She worked throughout her career for the Union Trust Bank in Baltimore, where she met and worked with her husband Jim. Nadene and Jim loved to travel and went on many trips throughout the United States and abroad. They were devoted to and actively involved in the lives of their extended families. Nadene maintained close relationships with her cousins throughout the course of their lives. She was also an avid reader.

Nadene was active in churches in the various communities in which she lived. Most recently she attended the Brown Memorial Woodbrook Presbyterian Church in Baltimore, and also participated in inner city tutoring and mentoring programs run by a Baltimore City church.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 17, at 1 pm at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, 400 Main Street, Myersville, MD 21773.
