Diana Welsh

Diana Lee Welsh, 73, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Thursday, January 2, 2020.  She was the loving wife of David L. Welsh for 54 years.
Born in Hagerstown on January 31, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Geraldine R. Lighter.
She will be fondly remembered as housewife, daycare provider, loving wife, aunt, cousin, and friend to all.  Due to her sight impairment, her telephone was her life-line, allowing her to keep in touch with the lives of many.  She was known by everyone as “Aunt Diane.”
She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Margaret Reeder of Boonsboro and Rebecca Hull of Williamsport; cousins, Suzanne Watson of Hagerstown and Lloyd A. Lighter of Hagerstown; nieces, Samantha Ryan of Sharpsburg, Heather Salb and husband, Dave, of Crofton, Maryland, Wendy Murphy and husband, Kevin, of Williamsport, Freddie Welsh of Keedysville, Bradley Welsh of Boonsboro, Michael Miller of Greenbelt, Maryland; great-nieces, Kaitlin and McKenna Murphy of Williamsport; great-nephews Ryan and Eric Salb of Crofton, Maryland; special friends Kelly, Jeff, Jillian, and Khloe Zimmerman of Boonsboro; and numerous family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her uncles, Lloyd “Buck” Lighter and Harry Lighter; sister-in-law, Connie Miller; brothers-in-law, Richard Welsh, Frederick Reeder and Freddie Welsh; and nephew, Brian Hull.
The family welcomes friends and loved ones to join them at the Boonsboro American Legion for a Celebration of Remembrance from 3 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2020.
There will be no public viewing.  The funeral and interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County or to Doey’s House.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home in Boonsboro. Expressions of sympathy may be offered to the family at StaufferFuneralHome.
