Edward Wachter

December 28, 1925 — May 17, 2012

Mr. Edward L. Wachter, age 86, of Frederick died on Thursday May 17, 2012 at Kline Hospice House, Mt .Airy. He was the husband of Margaret I. Wachter.

Born on December 28, 1925 in Charlesville, MD, he was the son of the late Leslie D. and Margaret E. Carmack Wachter.

He attended Lewistown Elementary and Walkersville High School. He was a farmer and worked for C & P Telephone Company as a line repairman and service desk technician.

He was a member of the C & P Telephone Pioneers, 4-H All Stars, Lewistown Ruritan, Walkersville Vol. Fire Co., Glade Valley Grange, and Frederick Co. Farm Bureau.  He enjoyed his volunteer efforts being a long term supporter of the Frederick County 4-H Beef, Sheep and Swine Club Sale Committee and supporting the various county FFA and Fire Companies fund raising butchering activities.

In addition to his wife he is survived by children Deborah E. Wachter-Harne and husband Wayne of Myersville, Kevin E. Wachter of Frederick, Joyce M. W. Shry and husband Robert of Tuscarora and Susan F. Minso and husband Michael of Thurmont. Five grandchildren, Lisa Smith, Eric Smith, Andrew Smith Meredith Wivell and husband Dan and Ashley Minso. Great Grandchildren, David Jordan Smith, Chloe Wivell, Landon Smith, Trent Wivell and Talen Smith. Surviving Sisters are Katherine Young, Virgie Miller and husband James, Judy Wrecises and husband Jerry and Edna Rhodes.  He is also survived by various nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a daughter Carolyn D. Smith and brother Leslie E. Wachter.

Visitation will be held at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, on Sunday May 20, from 2-4 & 7-9pm where funeral services will be held on Monday May 21, at 2:00pm. Reverend Phillip Curran will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.

The family would like to thank Dr. Hudhud, Dr. Gough, Kline Hospice House Staff, caregivers, family, friends and neighbors for all of their care, thoughts, and prayers during his illness.
